Full specs: iPhone 6S has Live Photos, 3D Touch and superior selfie camera | #AppleEvent

According to the Apple Special event held today, the iPhone 6 is the most popular iPhone ever, its line being the most-loved phones in the world. So what’s newly unveiled about the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus? “Although they look familiar, everything is changed,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. “The iPhones that you are about to see are the most advanced iPhones ever, and the most advanced smartphones in the world.”

Updated technological features

The new line of iPhones will be made with brand new glass–the strongest in the industry, Apple boasts–and the frames are made out of 7000 series aluminum. The 64-bit chip features a M9 motion co-processor that’s embedded and always on. The iPhones will feature a 2nd generation touch-ID sensor that’s twice as fast. It’s LTE Advanced and has faster Wi-Fi than ever before.

3D touch

With the new iPhones, Apple is taking multitouch to the next level. A whole new dimension to experiencing the iPhone will be made possible by a technology called 3D Touch. It’s the next generation of multitouch that recognizes the amount of force one is using on the touchscreen. Press lightly, and one gets a peek of content. Continue pressing, and one opens the content itself.

Camera enhancements

iPhone 6S live photo apple event 2015 (2)iPhones are known for their cameras, and the new lineup will be no exception. The iSight camera is 12 megapixels, which is 50 percent more pixels than previous iPhones. Autofocus is even faster and more accurate. Videos can be filmed in HD and 4K—which includes 8 million pixels in every frame.

Apple also introduced a new feature called Live Photos. When a picture is taken, the camera captures a second-and-a-half on either side of the photo. Take a photo, press on it, and it will move like a very brief video.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6plus will be exactly the same price as the 6 ($199) and 6 Plus ($299). Apple is also implementing an iPhone upgrade program, where one can get a new iPhone every year starting at $32 a month (along with carrier charges). The new iPhones are available for pre-order on September 12th and will be available on September 25th.
