Taking place on the grounds of the New York Hall of Science, the first ever Maker’s Faire in the east coat is happening this weekend. It’s going to showcase just how far along we’ve come since the early days of the Net. Social media empowers people, and those people empower the community. O’Reilly’s got a preview of the fair:
“A celebration of the DIY mindset and creativity, Maker Faire brings together engineers, artists, crafters, tinkerers and scientists.”
Taking the best out of all participating industries, this World’s Faire for Makers is following the concepts of similar Fairs that have come before it. The Faire once again brings together almost every sector in the tech & science industry. Some of the featured activities in the Faire include a panel of five leading researchers who discuss just how the entire “maker” mindset influenced them professionally (presented by Scientific American), a performance by ArcAttack!, “Cooking for Geeks” with author Jeff Potter, and more.
Nurturing creativity and progress has been and will always be nothing short of a truly noble deed. With the age of social media and one-click-away technology, it’s becoming easier by the nanosecond for everyone, including the brightest ones amongst us, to get together, socialize, conceive great ideas and even actively develop them, though we may be 5,000 miles apart. This Maker’s Faire demonstrates the enormous potential that comes with sharing intellectual ideas, crossing all borders and growing at an ever-increasing pace.
