Advantec Turns to EnterpriseDB for Open Cloud Switch

Moving to open cloud solutions is an important part of the virtualization journey, and managed services can ease the transition.  It’s actually a growing demand in the cloud space, lending itself as a competitive advantage for many services providers.  EnterpriseDB, combined with SynchSource and VMware support, are enabling Advantec to scale up, growing its outsourced HR and payroll services.

Advantec has a unique model around monetizing the human cloud, and a large portion of that is rooted in its own cloud systems.  The company made the decision to switch to EnterpriseDB, a massive, indepdendent PostgreSQL open source database company, in order to remain competitive in its space.  Expansion was central to this objective, moving beyond the platform it built to a true multi-tenant solution.

“Advantec needed a new multi-tenant architecture that would scale with varying demands, and do so without breaking the bank,” said Robin Schumacher, director of product strategy, EnterpriseDB. “Any time an IT team needs to transition to a new server it can be painful on many levels. EnterpriseDB prides itself on offering an easy and seamless database migration path.”

It was an easy step for Advantec to make, as the company had already utilized EnterpriseDB’s SaaS products since launching over a decade ago.  Some notable benefits of the existing relationship include little bleed-over for the client experience, and the ability to customize its interface for individual clients, whether it’s an org chart or their work flow.

Leveraging a cloud presence to improve customer relations is something Syncplicity is also dedicated to, applying similar concepts into its reseller program.  Preserving a company’s ability to maintain healthy correspondence with their end users is a considerably important aspect of cloud-managed interfaces these days.

As far as EnterpriseDB goes, its role for facilitating Advantac’s switch is not undervalued.  They’re “committed to offering world class support providing dependable and timely resolution to all of our customers’ technical inquires. Every customer inquiry is reviewed and investigated directly by highly-experienced support engineers, with access to PostgreSQL community experts.

“Every subscription installation of Postgres Plus products receives EnterpriseDB’s software update service, technical alerts, and access to an online support portal and KnowledgeBase. Product technical support is available to customers with an EnterpriseDB Basic or Premium Software Subscription. For evaluations and proof-of-concept projects, EnterpriseDB also offers time flexible Developer support options for application development assistance.” Ed Boyajian, CEO of EnterpriseDB.
