Texas Becomes Altar as EMC and Cisco Reunite in the Cloud

Perhaps the union of two of the largest platforms in tech community is something to watch out for. EMC and Cisco head to Richardson, Texas for VCE—creating more than 400 jobs for the community. Texas Enterprise Fund could be the sealing factor.

VCE Chief Executive Officer Michael Capellas explains how the state is becoming a friendly place for cloud investments with its state economic development fund saying, “Texas is creating the right environment for a strong state economy with initiatives like the Texas Enterprise Fund that give companies like VCE attractive incentives to invest here for growth.”

After experiencing some early 2011 lows and getting punished by rival Juniper Networks, Cisco hopes to bring back its A-game with this venture, as VCE moving to cowboy county. Cisco has also been quite visible lately, with its acquisition of digital media processing business, Inlet Technologies and tapping an enormous market with its expansion to India.  Its efforts have been most notable in the telecommunications sector, coming up with the Jabber app that binds several communication tools. EMC, on the other hand continues to do what they do best, as they deliver new cloud systems with VMware.

Breaking ground into regions that are not IT-infested, but have immense potential for cloud computing is a wise tactic. And more and more companies are coursing towards this direction, even seeking academic environments for trials. Dell and Impulse Point has recently explored North Arizona University, which is a premier pool for cloud services testing, and fresh young minds. Titans including Hewlett Packard, IBM and AT&T are planning to invest in Slovakia, and could boost 1,900 jobs in this European country. Following state tax credits from Michigan Economic Growth Authority, Lakeside Software is expanding its Ann Arbor R&D Center.

When information and virtual infrastructure solutions (EMC) ventures with consumer electronics, networking and communications giant (Cisco), excitement fills the barrel. With everyone’s concentration moving towards the game-changing cloud space, and the hunt for cloud storage intensifies, its the joint strategies that set enterprises apart.
