Netflix Selects Sumo Logic’s Next-Gen Log Management and Analytics Service
Netflix is adopting the services of Sumo Logic, a cloud-based Log Management and Analytics service. As the world’s leading Internet streaming subscription service for enjoying movies and TV programs, Netflix has more than 27 million subscribers. The announcement comes after Netflix completed an extensive testing of competing solutions in order to address the multi-terabyte challenges Big Data volume and ability to scale.
“By adopting the Sumo Logic solution, Netflix gains the ability to collect, manage, and derive IT and business insights from all of its machine data, whether it comes from their data centers or from their cloud infrastructure. From emerging technology companies to today’s enterprise leaders, Sumo Logic’s cloud-based service is rapidly becoming the solution of choice to unlock the value of machine-generated Big Data,” said Vance Loiselle, president and CEO of Sumo Logic. “We look forward to providing Netflix with this platform to help them realize greater business value from their data and continue to improve the Netflix experience for more than 27million subscribers.”
Sumo Logic offers next generation log management and analytics. The service is based in the Amazon cloud and is designed to provide customers with
“realtime interactive analytics at petabyte scale.” With features such as instant deployment, capacity to scale, and zero maintenance, the service provides a unique value proposition to customers. Sumo Logic’s cloud-based nature eliminates the need for complex and expensive on-premise solutions, while delivering the best of capabilities.
Netflix will implement the service into their vast infrastructure, which is also based in the Amazon AWS. Integration of Sumo Logic in the environment across various points will allow real-time insights from analytic data for the company’s vast cloud applications, infrastructure, and operations. The Netflix environment is a mission-critical operation that will benefit from instant data including system uptime, performance, and incident reporting. With instant information, response to incidents makes all the difference to the health and availability of the operation. Cost savings are a huge factor as well, as the platforms are in the same cloud environment and Sumo Logic’s service extends into the Netflix datacenters.
“Migrating to Sumo Logic allows my teams to gain deep insight into all of our on-premise and cloud applications without worrying about the maintenance and infrastructure required to process the terabytes of log data that we generate every day,” said Mike Kail, VP of IT Operations at Netflix, “Sumo Logic’s elastic scalability gave me the confidence that it can handle our data volumes.”
With features suited to cutting-edge environments, along with this major implementation, we will be seeing more of Sumo Logic. In the modern datacenter with its uptime demands and ever-changing nature, utilizing real-time information to make decisions based on massive amounts of data is becoming more and more critical. Delivering on this with a minimal adoption impact will only suit to grow the company’s base.
