A post on Microsoft’s official blog, that has since disappeared, suggests that the company might be about to purchase the email start-up company Accompli. The post, which was written by Microsoft’s corporate vice presidentRajesh Jha, was headed ‘blank post please delete,’, although as can be seen in a screenshot made available by TechCrunch, the text showing in the web address reads: ‘http://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2014/11/25/microsoft-acquires-acompli/’.

Microsoft has yet to make any comments about this apparent error, nor has anyone come forward from Accompli.

The fact the post disappeared remains a mystery, but given the screenshot and aforementioned very clear three words: microsoft acquires accompli, it seems that the two companies must be close to finalizing a buy-out, or have already done the business. Accompli, which was released in April this year, has been called a ‘must-have’ app, mostly because of its ability to manage multiple email accounts and efficiently prioritize emails for its users. It works by understanding a user’s response to various contacts; contacts which receive the most responses become ‘focused’ emails, thereby sorting through the slush you don’t need to read. Users’ full inboxes can still easily be accessed by dragging down on the screen.

It was looking like Accompli was set to become one of the biggest apps on the market, and perhaps its own bold statement that the app will change “how the world works through mobile email” is a now widely believed claim. Not only did it win app of the week on AppAdvice App just after release, but its merits were extolled on the ShoeMoney blog, the blog’s founder and CEO stating, “This application is awesome. It’s been an absolute game changer for me and my team.  Since we started using it we have become so much more productive, it’s insane.”

Accompli is compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Google Apps, Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo, Outlook.com, Hotmail, MSN and Live, iPad running iOS 8.0 or later iPhone, and iPod touch. It’s also integrated with the cloud services Dropbox, iCloud, and OneDrive.
