Report: Leaked images confirm LG ‘Nexus 5X’, Huawei ‘Nexus 6P’ model names

Google is expected to reveal this year’s new Nexus smartphones – one from LG and one from Huawei – at an event in San Francisco on September 29. Although various leaks and rumors have revealed just about every detail about this year’s Nexus devices, there has been no confirmation on what LG and Huawei might call their new Nexus phones.

Last week a rumor surfaced that LG would call their new 5.2-inch Nexus the Nexus 5X – a continuation of the naming convention of the company’s 2013 Nexus 5. The same rumor suggested that Huawei’s 5.7-inch Nexus would be dubbed the Nexus 6P.

Publishing what it claims to be a set of images of the official retail packaging for the two devices, Android-focused website Android Police says it can confirm the ‘Nexus 5X’ and ‘Nexus 6P’ model names.

The retail packing for the LG Nexus 5X is a rectangular box with a cardboard accent sleeve that contains the model name while the Huawei 6P comes in a box with rounded corners and similarly shows the model name in the top left corner.

The packaging further confirms the model designations thanks to what Android Police described as “a stylized graphic or cut out of their “X” and “P” designations.”

Both boxes contain the Nexus logo in the bottom right corner of the image and show the respective devices storage capacity along with a silhouette of the device. The silhouettes appear to resemble previously leaked images of the devices.
