As businesses across industries recognize the value in analytics, Tableau Software, Inc. leads the charge with analytics software and business intelligence solutions for a wide range of businesses. The Seattle-based company recently released Tableau 9.1, which offers new capabilities and ways to analyze data.
“Tableau 9.1 makes data more accessible than before,” Tableau Product Manager Jeff Feng told John Furrier, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during BigDataNYC 2015. “The web data connector helps developers extend Tableau to connect to sources from Facebook to Twitter and Google Sheets. New native connectors to critical data sources, such as SAP and Google Cloud SQL, are also included.”
Feng said that “fast, easy and beautiful” remains Tableau’s core value proposition. “There are plenty of other companies that have specialized features, but when it comes down to it, the majority of business users want to find answers quickly and find a solution easily,” he said.
Consistently monitoring user feedback helps Tableau retain momentum. It also does not discriminate in its data or its customers. Tableau makes its software available for free to college students for one year. It also recently launched a free software program for nonprofits with annual operating budgets under $5 million.
Tableau also addresses a range of data, from Big Data to Excel spreadsheets. That said, it doesn’t dilute its product offerings. “We focus on quality above all else,” Fend said.
