Data is being streamed and created at an all-time high, and businesses are always on the lookout for innovative ways to process it all. Where do they go? Should they use hyper-converged infrastructures or go with public clouds?
Bharath Vasudevan, director of business development at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., answered these questions and more when he talked with Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and Paul Gillin (@pgillin), co-hosts of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during the HPE Discover 2016 event about HPE Synergy. As technology advances, the job of a company’s IT team only increases in difficulty. What HPE strives to do is “make hybrid IT simple,” said Vasudevan. The company wants to help customers in transition between data platform types and ease the journey between workloads.
Every customer is trying to solve for their workload, according to Vasudevan. By using a hyper-converged system, customers will have a greater range of options for infrastructure and problem solving.
A hyper-converged system provides a user environment that “drives simplicity,” said Vasudevan. Tasks that normally would have tied up multiple administrators can be given to junior technicians to conserve resources. HPE has taken “the complexity out of virtualization,” he added.
HPE doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead of trying to mass distribute generic patch solutions, it provides “the right access for the right role” said Vasudevan. HPE is working to put companies on the path to more efficiently connecting their systems.
A core value of HPE is workload vs. workflow. This means transitioning focus away from what needs to be done to how it will be done. In a way, “workload is table stakes,” said Vasudevan. It’s a primary and important issue for businesses and something that has to be addressed on a large scale, he added.
HPE Synergy is a product that provides users with a range of computing, storage and processing options. And, according to Vasudevan, HPE is known for its reliable “time-tested” products, and it will continue to provide the best in data storage and processing.
