New York City-based coding boot camp Flatiron School announced a partnership with world-leading software repository GitHub to give student developers an edge with free training.
With the Flatiron School on board, recipients of GitHub’s free Student Developer Pack, an extensive set of tools and resources for budding developers, will also receive one free month of membership in Flatiron’s Community-Powered Bootcamp. The value of the month-long subscription is listed at $149.
SiliconANGLE listed Flatiron School among Apple development boot camps in a 2016 article for developers looking for iOS and mobile training. The school also provides training for developers seeking to learn mobile, web and application development for numerous platforms with industry language focuses such as HTML/CSS, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, Node.JS and many others.
GitHub announced the Student Developer Pack in October 2014 bringing together a large number of developer tool outfits including text editor Atom, cloud application manager Bitnami and cloud hosting provider Digital Ocean, to name a few. The pack, offered for free to students aged 13 and over enrolled in a degree granting course, has since continued to expand its scope.
“GitHub users are motivated and eager to learn how to develop their skills as coders and designers,” said Adam Enbar, co-founder and president of Flatiron School. He added that giving GitHub members access to the school’s resources would help grow professional networks and build skill sets.
The Community-Powered Bootcamp provided by Flatiron School is an online curriculum designed around participant support with questions, sessions and collaboration based on study groups and peers. The service also uses the same learning platform as the school’s instructor-led curriculums but does not include the school’s job placement or financing support.
Students can sign up for the GitHub Student Developer Pack and enroll in Flatiron School’s Community-Powered Bootcamp by visiting GitHub’s education portal website.
