Startup Software raises $15M to grow its DevOps metrics platform

DevOps metrics startup Software.co Technologies Inc. announced today it has raised $15 million in new funding to grow its platform and provide essential insights to engineering teams to enable faster and more efficient software development.

Next47 and 8VC led the Series A round. Including the funding, Software has raised $22 million to date, according to Crunchbase.

Founded in 2017, Software assists engineering organizations in improving their software delivery through a DevOps metrics platform. The platform collects data across the stack to provide engineering organizations with the data they need to measure their DevOps performance, see how they compare to global and industry benchmarks and ignite continuous improvement. DevOps refers to an increasingly common method of creating software by close teaming of application developers and information technology department operations staff.

The problem Software’s platform seeks to address is that within technology companies, engineering organizations often integrate and deploy changes thousands of times per day, but many fall behind. Engineering teams struggle against roadblocks and delays during the development process and developers battle distractions — too many meetings, interruptions and too much wait time on processes and systems.

Software argues that teams often takes months or quarters to see their ideas turned into reality. The company is hence on a mission to help engineering teams worldwide bridge this growing divide.

Companies using the platform can quickly connect their DevOps tools and see performance metrics, including delivery lead time and release frequency, in just a few minutes, with no need for setup or services. All data is kept secure with source code protection, read-only permission and data encryption.

On the continuous improvement side, the platform measures how a team’s DevOps performance changes over time and suggests actions to improve their performance. The data gathered across the stack can drive engineering decisions and enable faster and more efficient software delivery, according to the company.

“Over the last decade, we’ve witnessed a growing tech divide between the highest and lowest performing software development organizations,” Software co-founder Brett Stevens said in a statement. “Software sheds light on organizations’ DevOps performance.”

Along with the funding announcement, Software also said it plans to release a product upgrade that will provide even more data and benchmarks for measuring and improving DevOps performance before the end of 2021.
