Accelerating cloud modernization journeys: Inside the AWS, Red Hat and Accenture partnership

Migrating to the cloud is only the first step in the modernization journey

Red Hat Inc., Accenture PLC and Amazon Web Services Inc. are working together to help organizations realize true business value through the cloud continuum.

Red Hat provides enterprise-level hybrid cloud technology; Accenture offers cloud migration, modernization and managed services; and AWS has a global cloud infrastructure needed for the future, according to David Rojas (pictured, right), global alliance executive at Red Hat.

“We really believe in the partnerships, the power of the three — AWS, Accenture and Red Hat — and how we work together,” Rojas said. “AWS obviously has the cloud platform, tons of cloud-native services, integrations with our products. Accenture … they have global expertise in how to implement, how to get these things out. And, of course, Red Hat; we bring the open hybrid cloud story.”

Rojas and Rob Buchanan (left), principal solution architect at AWS, spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Rob Strechay at Red Hat Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Red Hat, AWS and Accenture partner to ensure a seamless and “true” cloud journey. (* Disclosure below.)

The rise of the sovereign cloud

With cloud adoption gaining steam, the materialization of a sovereign cloud that offers a trusted environment, where data cannot be transferred across borders, has emerged. Europe has already set the ball rolling with the sovereign-cloud trend, according to Rojas.

“It’s not a matter of whether we think this is a risk or not. They have to have the ability to build out these very secure sovereign clouds, and then more importantly, move them in an instant,” he said.

Since Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS provides fully managed OpenShift, it is accelerating the cloud migration. For instance, ROSA enables models to be built in the cloud and then be deployed on-prem, Buchanan pointed out.

“What AWS really brings to the table, its bringing scale, agility and flexibility and enabling Accenture, using products like Red Hat, using products like ROSA to help those customers accelerate their cloud journey from on-prem into the cloud,” he stated. “If I’m using, for instance, OpenShift container platform on-prem and I want to make a change, I want to move into the cloud quickly … it’s really challenging. If I’m using Rosa, though, I can very quickly spin up a cluster.”
