Specialized clouds are growing, leading to the idea of a metacloud, where users can deploy to multiple clouds and pick and choose the best services.

Specialty clouds differ from general purpose clouds, because they focus on a specific niche and double down on that, providing the best support for that niche, according to Johnny Dallas (pictured), founder and chief executive officer of Zeet Inc. Cloud companies are focusing on providing specialized services, and customers are increasingly using multiple cloud platforms, requiring a higher level interface to manage workloads across different clouds.

“We were at KubeCon CloudNativeCon last week, where CNCF put out a great white paper earlier this year about platforms,” Dallas said. “This idea of having some control plane or some interface above the clouds that your developers can use actually to interface with the cloud infrastructure — it’s almost a prerequisite for leveraging these specialized clouds.”

Dallas spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Savannah Peterson and John Furrier at SC23, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the latest developments in artificial intelligence, cloud technology and the semiconductor industry that are providing potential opportunities for entrepreneurs and developers. Machine learning workflows

New companies in the AI space are able to innovate and enable various use cases, with teams of varying sizes working on engineering in the AI space.

The integration of traditional web-scale software as a service with AI and machine learning workflows is creating a need for platforms that can bring DevOps solutions into the ML space, according to Dallas. Memory can be physical or related to what happened in the model.

“AI is so exciting. I think one of the best parts about building dev tools or infrastructure, and I get to thankfully be at the intersection of doing both of them, is you get to be a part of all the things that customers are building on top of you,” Dallas said. “And so we get to see all of these insane applications, where earlier this month I was talking to a school in India and they were building a system to translate content from other countries [in real time] so they could turn [it into] educational materials for their students.”
