Normalyze launches new Snowflake native app to strengthen data access security

Data security posture management company Normalyze Inc. today announced the launch of a new Snowflake Inc. native app on the Snowflake Marketplace as part of a partnership to enhance data access security.

Normalyze DPSM, Powered by Snowflake, has been designed to tackle security challenges organizations face in securing their data environments. The first challenge, overprivileged access, involves data teams struggling to assign appropriate access levels to users due to a lack of precise knowledge about the data’s sensitivity or value.

The problem is compounded by the absence of solutions for classifying data in real-time streams, leading to either delayed data availability or overly permissive access rights, both of which can jeopardize data security.

Another major challenge is the complexity of data classification within Snowflake, especially when it comes to intricate data types such as JSON “blobs” and large language model outputs. As data volumes and complexities continue to grow within Snowflake environments, maintaining visibility and control over this data becomes increasingly difficult.

Normalyze argues that traditional security and compliance tools frequently fall short of meeting the dynamic needs of modern cloud environments like Snowflake.

The new solution also addresses the issues wherein existing security solutions lack the agility and depth required to effectively manage and secure data in complex cloud settings. Rapid data growth exacerbates the issue, making it harder to maintain robust security measures.  Added to the mix are the continuous compliance and governance issues that pose significant challenges, as traditional tools often cannot keep up with the evolving requirements of cloud environments.

Normalyze DSPM aims to address these issues by providing advanced tools for automated data discovery and classification, precise access management, and proactive risk monitoring within the Snowflake AI Data Cloud.

By natively integrating with the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, Normalyze DSPM secures data using Snowflake Horizon’s security and compliance capabilities. Snowflake customers can leverage advanced tools for automated data discovery and classification, precise access management via the Data Access Graph and proactive risk monitoring to enhance their security measures across their Snowflake data landscape.

“By building Normalyze natively in Snowflake, they are accelerating innovation and collaboration in the AI Data Cloud, as well as the options available to customers,” said Tarik Dwiek, head of Technology Alliances at Snowflake. “This integration marks a pivotal step in organizations’ ability to secure their environments without ever leaving Snowflake.”

Normalyze DSPM, Powered by Snowflake, is available on the Snowflake Marketplace starting today.
