Data security software provider Rubrik Inc. today announced expanded cybersecurity and artificial intelligence capabilities as well as new solutions for Amazon Web Services Inc. and Amazon Bedrock.

The announcements, made at the AWS re:Invent 2024 conference, are focused on boosting cyber resilience and enabling advanced AI capabilities for enterprise customers. The company unveiled updates to its cybersecurity solutions for AWS and introduced Rubrik Annapurna, a new application programming interface service designed to accelerate generative AI application development via integration with Amazon Bedrock, AWS’ managed service for creating AI applications.

On the cybersecurity front, Rubrik is expanding its cyber resistance capabilities for joint customers by expediting the identification of and the response to hidden threats while also shortening the time to cyber recovery. Central to the new cybersecurity services is Rubrik Cloud Vault, an isolated, air-gapped and immutable backup repository that is fully managed by Rubrik.

Rubrik Cloud Vault on AWS offers businesses a fully managed, isolated off-site archive to secure backup data against cyberthreats. Differing from traditional isolated data vaults that require complex and error-prone manual maintenance, Rubrik Cloud Vault simplifies the process with an immutable, air-gapped solution that is designed to ensure data integrity and streamlined recovery.

The service also delivers advanced security features that are fully managed by Rubrik, including immutability, role-based access controls, advanced encryption and quorum authorization. The comprehensive monitoring offered by Rubrik Cloud Vault ensures robust protection, while the managed nature of the solution alleviates operational burdens to allow businesses to enhance cyber resilience and streamline recovery without compromising on security.

Rubrik is also enhancing security for joint customers on AWS with features that offer deeper insights into sensitive data and emerging cyber threats. The new features include anomaly detection, which leverages machine learning to identify deletions, modifications and encryptions, with the result being faster ransomware investigations and accelerated recovery.

On the Amazon Bedrock side, Rubrik announced Annapurna, a single API service for customers building generative AI applications that integrate with Amazon Bedrock.

Rubrik Annapurna has been designed to enable fast access to secure data embeddings from Rubrik Security Cloud, including on-premises, cloud and software-as-a-service. The new service’s secure data retrieval capabilities work with Amazon Bedrock to allow customers to access a broad selection of high-performing foundation models to build enterprise-grade generative AI applications.

Rubrik Annapurna’s integration with Amazon Bedrock enhances AI innovation by offering fast, secure access to enterprise data with an API-first approach that dynamically updates access as data refreshes or permissions change, ensuring consistent and secure data availability for AI applications.

The service also features an out-of-the-box, application-aware embedding engine that delivers secure embeddings for enterprise data, accelerating retrieval-augmented generation workflows. Additionally, it simplifies data mobilization across various systems without the need for custom APIs or complex pipelines, reducing costs and eliminating shadow data stores.

Use cases for Rubrik Annapurna span multiple business functions, enabling more intelligent and dynamic AI-driven applications. These include creating customer support systems that provide expert-like resolutions by integrating data from Salesforce Inc., Microsoft Teams and other knowledge bases. Other applications include smarter sales assistants offering comprehensive deal insights by connecting customer relationship management, email and chat data, and marketing assistants capable of generating original content by leveraging information from diverse sources such as OneDrive and S3 storage.
