Email security provider Sublime Security raises $60M for platform growth

Artificial intelligence-powered email security platform provider Sublime Security Inc. announced today that it has raised $60 million in new funding to support its continued investment in its platform and community.

Founded in 2019, Sublime Security offers an email security platform designed to protect businesses from evolving threats such as phishing, malware and business email compromise. The platform prioritizes transparency and user control to allow enterprises to tailor their defenses to meet specific needs.

Core to Sublime Security’s platform is the open-source Message Query Language, a domain-specific language that allows users to create, run and share detection rules. The feature gives security teams the ability to address threats dynamically while also fostering collaboration within the cybersecurity community.

Sublime Security’s platform integrates with major email providers such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The integration is provided through application programming interface connections that eliminate the need for changes to mail flow or MX records, making deployment quick and straightforward. With the platform, organizations can immediately begin analyzing historical email data and implementing robust protections without disrupting existing infrastructure.

The company’s platform also addresses the rising threat presented by generative AI, which has made it easier and more cost-effective for threat actors to send highly targeted and varied attacks in high volumes.

“Generative AI has radically changed the email security problem and yesterday’s solutions can’t solve the challenges of today and tomorrow,” said founder and Chief Executive Josh Kamdjou. “The future of email security lies in the flexibility to address new techniques from attackers and solve the real problems security teams see every day with email.”

Institutional Venture Partners Inc. led the Series B round, with new investor Citigroup Ventures Inc. and existing investors Index Ventures LLC, Decibel Partners and Slow Ventures also participating.

“Email is the backbone of business communication but remains an outsized cybersecurity risk,” said IVP General Partner Cack Wilhelm. “Sublime not only gives security teams an effective and easy-to-use platform but also a transparent and configurable product.”

Including the new funding, Sublime Security has raised $93.8 million to date.
