Heidi Health nabs $340M to deepen adoption of AI agents within health systems globally
Heidi Health Trading Pty Ltd., a healthcare artificial intelligence startup, today announced it has raised a total of $340 million in new funding to support the company’s next phase of growth and deepen adoption throughout health systems.
The funding comes from a combination of a $100 million Series C round led by Blackbird, with participation from existing investors Phoenix Court, Point72 Private Investments and Headline, and $240 million in growth investment from General Catalyst.
“From the day I started Heidi, the ambition was always bigger than writing doctor’s notes. I imagined that AI would sit alongside clinicians and complete real work under their supervision,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Dr. Thomas Kelly.
Founded in Melbourne, Australia, Heidi is building what it calls an AI Care Partner, designed to expand clinical care capacity for healthcare providers across every stage of care.
Globally, but especially in the United States, AI adoption in healthcare is strong, according to a survey led by the American Medical Association, which noted that 81% of physicians surveyed in 2026 said they were using augmented artificial intelligence. This rate is more than double a poll sent out in 2023.
“AI has quickly become part of everyday medical practice,” said AMA CEO and Executive Vice President John Whyte, MD, MPH. “Physicians see real promise in its ability to support clinical decisions and cut down on administrative burden.
Whyte critically cautioned that most physicians are generally supportive of AI in healthcare, but are wary of patient use for tasks requiring clinical judgment. In many cases, doctors, nurses and clinical workers fear that AI might degrade the ability of human specialists to do their job appropriately if it takes the place of actual expertise.
Heidi appears to be working around these fears by designing its platform to augment, not replace, the foundations of trust and insight by providing a layer of administrative automation and research assistance.
The platform’s core is Scribe, which listens ambiently to record patient history and symptoms, update records, provide multilingual support, and organize text then prepare for likely questions, such as coding suggestions and extra documents like handouts.
In addition to Scribe, the company also released Evidence, which provides doctors, nurses and other professionals direct access to trusted medical research at the point of care. It automatically factors in active patient details, uploaded lab results and live conversation transcripts to generate summaries with in-line citations linked to original sources with risk scoring. This allows clinicians to quickly guide research and spend less time reviewing tracked literature in order to find what they need within their expertise.
The company said Evidence has answered more than 10 million queries since its March launch.
Heidi also shipped its first secure, wearable hardware device, Remote, built to work within clinical settings from surgery to community clinics, and Dictate, a voice-to-text feature.
Kelly said the objective behind Heidi is to help ease the burden of clinicians and care providers while leading adoption across U.S. health systems.
Since the company’s Series B in October, Heidi has seen an enterprise activation rate sitting around 62% across major public and private health systems. In the U.S., Beth Israel Lahey Health, one of the largest health systems in Massachusetts, uses Heidi; in the United Kingdom, it was selected as the sole supplier for the National Health Service England Midlands, the largest clinical AI procurement in NHS history.
