Accenture leverages Oracle’s Deep Data Security for database-driven trust boundaries
Oracle Corp.’s Deep Data Security offers a basic premise on enterprise security: When the application layer is an AI agent, the trust boundary must move somewhere else.
The trust boundary can be relocated to the database, and Roger Cornejo (pictured), technology innovation principal director of gen AI/AI at Accenture Enkitec Group, has published research results that demonstrate how this works with Oracle’s Deep Data Security. Cornejo and his team built an application designed to leverage Oracle’s security solution, where the database can enforce access policies regardless of what Structured Query Language the agent constructs.
“We speak to a client, and we walk them through our security model, including the layered security,” Cornejo said. “I can tell you, every person that we have shown this application to, [with] this level of security, has not seen anything like it. They can trust the application is not going to expose their data to people who aren’t authorized to see it.”
Cornejo spoke with Dave Vellante at Oracle’s “AI Cyberattacks Are Escalating: How to Secure Your Data Now” event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Oracle’s solution implements end-user-specific privacy rules inside the database. (* Disclosure below.)
Defining boundaries in enterprise security
In Cornejo’s work with Accenture’s Oracle practice, the firm operates a Model Context Protocol server that provides AI agents with access to a knowledge repository of over 925,000 documents across 27 Oracle product namespaces. Different agents have different authorization levels, and Deep Data Security is used to define boundaries in SQL. The database enforces them for every agent on every query.
“When we were tasked to build this application out, it needed to be multi-tenant, it needed to scale, it needed to be robust in terms of security,” Cornejo told theCUBE. “We implemented this all with database security. We have dozens, probably 40 or more agents that are hitting this application. We needed to make sure it would scale as well. Right now, we have tested it to scale to 300 simultaneous queries returning the results, most of the results, in 15 seconds or less.”
