New IoT tools for app analytics and streamlining
This week’s Smart DevOps roundup features a new Internet of Things (IoT) service from a tech giant, a new way to streamline the delivery of IoT apps, and one of the first analytics platforms for IoT.
IBM Internet of Things Foundation
IBM recently unveiled a new service called the IBM Internet of Things Foundation, which enables a company to easily and quickly built IoT apps in a just a few minutes. The IoT Foundation is a cloud-based service that will enable a developer to quickly and easily extend an Internet-connected device, such as a sensor or control, into the cloud to build an app alongside the device to collect the data and send real-time insights back to the developer’s business.
The IoT Foundation is part of IBM Bluemix, an open-standards, cloud platform for building, managing and running apps for web, mobile, Big Data and smart devices. IBM Bluemix will be able to deliver rapid access to, and provide valuable insights from IoT devices connected to the Internet.
Streamlining the delivery of IoT apps
PubNub Inc., a Data Stream Network company, and Electric Imp Inc., a company that makes it easy for things to connect to the Internet, have teamed up to allow developers to easily and quickly deploy IoT solutions. The partnership leverages PubNub’s bi-directional communications with a broad array of apps and mobile devices to easily extend their Electric Imp-enabled devices. This integrated solution allows for faster development of IoT apps.
IoT developers have enough to worry about in developing the next generation of connected device applications,” said Todd Greene, CEO and founder of PubNub. “With PubNub and Electric Imp, these developers now have the hardware, software and secure and scalable network to easily launch their IoT products and services, speeding innovation while also providing a reliable user experience.”
AGT International to launch IoT analytics platform
AGT International GmbH, a company that specializes in IoT, announced that it will launch IoTA, a modular, open, cloud-based platform for IoT app developers that will deliver IoT-specific analytics, data management and visualization capabilities. By making IoTA available to other developers, it will enable a much wider variety of IoT solutions and accelerate IoT technology adoption. The platform enables the easy incorporation of ready-to-use analytics for data that originates from a range of endpoints and business areas.
“We have spent years at AGT helping cities to operate more efficiently and safely, water infrastructure to be better managed, traffic to flow smoother, energy facilities and oil and gas sites to be better protected and connected, to cite just a portion of our successful track record. With the creation of IoTA, we’re leveraging our significant analytics expertise and IoT deployment experience to address a whole new set of challenges across many different industries,” said AGT CEO Mati Kochavi. “The IoT will create huge amounts of new data that is drastically different to the data used today. To make sense of it and unlock the potential of the IoT, we’ll need analytics that are unique to IoT data.”
