Have you ever sent an email and a few seconds later regret ever sending it?
If you answered yes to that question, you’ll be happy to know that Google has now made its ‘Undo Send’ feature available for Gmail on the web. The feature was previously made available only for Inbox by Gmail. By default, the feature is turned off and works to help people send emails and take them back if needed.
Launch your Gmail client and go to ‘Settings’ by clicking on the cogwheel icon found on the top right of the page, just below your profile thumbnail. A dropdown menu will open up.
Click on ‘Settings’ to open the settings menu page.
In the ‘General’ tab, scroll down until you find the ‘Undo Send’ section. You will then see a tickbox for ‘Enable Undo Send.’ Click that box to enable the feature. You can now choose how long you have to change your mind regarding sending an email, from 10 to 30 seconds.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to save the changes you have done.
When you send an email, a small message will pop up on top of your screen telling you that your message has been sent. If you’re not satisfied and want to take back the email, there’s an option on that small message window for undoing the action and viewing the message draft.
Now you can send and undo the action as many times as you please, as long as you do it inside the allotted time.
