Nasuni says it can restore millions of files hit by ransomware in seconds

Nasuni Corp., a provider of cloud file services, today added targeted restore capabilities to its Nasuni Ransomware Protection service that reduce investigation time and speed recovery.

The company also said it has integrated its software with Microsoft Corp.’s Sentinel cloud-based security information and event management platform.

Noting that distributed file shares create a greater vulnerability to and longer restore times from ransomware attacks, Nasuni said its add-on ransomware protection can recover millions of files in seconds as well as quickly detect and stop attacks in progress. Targeted restore capabilities provide precise file restoration in seconds.

Organizations can precisely recover only the encrypted files identified in the incident. Administrators don’t have to sort through directories to find affected files; the system does that for them Nasuni said. The software provides prompts to help administrators identify files to restore even if they have been deleted.

The company’s continuous versioning process automatically saves details on affected files and the last clean snapshot of data. Reports document the scope of the attack and remediation processes for regulatory and insurance purposes. A full log of the restore operation is available, including the files restored and any problems encountered.

Nasuni’s integration with Microsoft Sentinel allows customers to automatically spot threat activity and immediately initiate the appropriate responses. Microsoft Log Analytics Workspace now gathers and shares Nasuni event and audit logs at any Nasuni distributed edge device for constant monitoring with the Sentinel platform.

Boston-based Nasuni has raised $247 million in funding and boasts such well-known customers as American Standard Inc., Mattel Inc., Ghirardelli  Chocolate Co. and Alcoa Corp.
