mSpot Music Skyrockets its First Two Months on Android

mSpot declared a stunning 500,000 Android downloads since it was launched two months ago — June 28, to be exact.  The cloud entertainment provider makes cloud-based syncing across multiple devices  possible.

“We speculated a year ago that the demand for cloud based entertainment would be on the rise due to the growing number of media capable devices coming to market such as smartphones, set-top boxes, tablets and PCs,” said mSpot CEO Daren Tsui.  “What we didn’t expect is how quickly the demand skyrocketed, as exhibited by our early organic growth just on Android.”

mSpot offers more than some other entertainment apps, as it allows users to store up to 40 GB of music in the cloud. Music uploaded by users to the mSpot cloud can be accessed via other web-connected devices like PCs and mobile phones. The free edition allows you to store 2 GB or 1600 songs while the 40-GB storage can be availed for $3.99.  Some of its exciting features include:

•    Voice activated playback via song/artist/album search for Android
•    Prioritized uploading by Artist, Album and Playlists
•    Option to stream music (not save on phone) to conserve SD card space
•    Load songs quickly on the phone via USB sideloading

mSpot also streams full-length movies to Android phones and tablet, as well as iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Palm and over 50 other high-end handsets. It is the first company to ever do so, and it’s gaining on other services with cross-device support, such as Rhapsody.

This is encouraging for entertainment apps on Android in general, as device technology and support has improved greatly over the past year. For Google, the furthered development of entertainment apps is a good thing, as Apple has been quite dominate in this position for some time.
