Leaked iPhone 6s video shows upgraded processor, modem and cellular chip
A new video doing the rounds allegedly shows the form factor of the new iPhone 6s, along with some expected changes with its internals.
Originating from Macrumors the video reveals an iPhone 6s logic board and display assembly paired with a number of iPhone 6 components such as the rear shell and battery to deliver a device that boots to the point that it displays a gear icon.
Internally the device matches with reports and previous speculation in relation to the phone, including an upgraded modem in the form of a Qualcomm MDM9635M, which in theory should deliver faster data speeds while utilizing less power, along with what appears to be a new cellular chip to improve reception.
Also confirming past rumors, the video appears to show an upgraded processor, although it is not marked A9; the new chip, the successor to Apple’s A8 chip (at least the naming pattern is consistent) is expected to deliver significant speed improvements.
It’s not clear from the video that the iPhone 6s will support Force Touch, the feature coming across from the Apple Watch that allows the device to sense how hard the user is pressing on the display and activate differential controls depending on the amount of pressure that has been applied; however, there are clear differences from the iPhone 6 including the shielding on the rear of the display being glued in place rather than screwed in, a possible hint that the phone will be receiving the feature.
Display
Without a full boot into iOS 9 it’s difficult from the video to ascertain much about the display on the device, but as expected the iPhone 6s’ form factor appears to be pretty much identical to its predecessor, the iPhone 6.
A camera is also not shown in the device but has been previously speculated to come in at around 12 megapixels.
The iPhone 6s, along with its bigger brother, the iPhone 6s, is expected to be officially presented to the world by Apple September 9.
