Researcher Gene Kim watches DevOps community grow | #DOES15
The guests at this year’s DevOps Enterprise Summit even surprised host Gene Kim, noted researcher, author, former CTO of Tripwire, Inc. and author and DevOps enthusiast at IT Revolution Press.
The conference invited organizations such as Target, Nationwide and Capital One back this year to share how their DevOps journey has progressed over the past year. The 1,200 attendees also heard from DevOps newcomers Sherwin-Williams and Western Union. “Those are indications and validation that DevOps addresses a need that is in every industry vertical,” said Kim.
Kim told Brian Gracely, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, that he spotted Target and Nordstrom team members mingling on the show floor. “Even companies in competing industries are sharing practices,” he said. “That’s pretty remarkable.”
One highlight of the three-day summit for Kim was when Target announced that it held its first internal DevOp days, inspired by ING. “Three people who held those ING DevOps days were in the room, so I got to introduce them. That shows how small this community is.”
