The $67 billion purchase of EMC Corp. in September is the biggest in computer industry history, granting Dell Technologies Inc. countless subdivisions, spanning everything from client devices and bare-metal hardware to cloud computing and intelligent analytics.
How is the EMC acquisition enabling Dell’s growth in the hyper-converged information technology market?
Dell EMC World 2017 will explore this question and others at the four-day event taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event takes the spot previously occupied by EMC’s annual event and will be the second annual conference following the Dell EMC mega-merger.
SiliconANGLE will be at Dell EMC World with exclusive interviews from our roving news desk, theCUBE.
There have been many mega-mergers in the computer industry, which have failed to live up to expectations. Dell EMC World will provide a good indication of what we can expect from the firm going forward and answer the all-important question of how it will be a mega-merger success.
As part of the acquisition, Dell had to take on more than $50 billion in debt, but the company has managed to pay down its loans by $7 billion over the last two quarters, a feat that was much faster than expected and a good indication that the private company has a strong cash flow.
Dell’s latest sale took place last month with the announcement that it was selling its subsidiary company Spanning Cloud Apps LLC to the private equity firm Insight Venture Partners four years after it was first acquired by EMC.
Since its acquisition of EMC, Dell is dominating external storage revenues, according to market researcher International Data Corp. Dell’s external storage revenues are more than those of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Co., IBM Corp. and NetApp Inc. combined.
