Latest Samsung Galaxy S10 may include two front-facing Infinity O cameras
With Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. expected to release its latest flagship Galaxy S10 phones in less than two months, leaks and rumors continue to abound — and the latest is a surprise.
Samsung has long been expected to debut the Infinity O camera with the new phones, a front-facing camera that sits in the screen as opposed to in a notch. Now, the latest reports has at least one version with two front-facing cameras built into the screen.
Gizchina reported today that leaked screen protectors show the standard S10 has one front-facing camera within the screen, and the S10+, the larger model, has two front-facing cameras. The S10+ is also said to have a screen-to-body-ratio of 93.4 percent, higher than the Galaxy S9+, which came in at 83.7 percent and the iPhone XS Max at 84.3 percent.
In-screen cameras are not a new concept. Samsung announced the Galaxy A8 with Infinity O camera earlier this month and Huawei followed suit with the Nova 4 shortly thereafter.
Samsung has also been reported to be developing a 5G version of the Galaxy S10 since October but a new report claims the model may be supersized. According to a user of Twitter called Ice Universe who is known for accurate tips, the 5G version of the S10 will come with a 6.66-inch screen compared to 6.11-inches for the S10 and 6.44-inches for the S10+.
A separate report claimed that the 5G variant has a code name of “boltq5gvzw” and possibly “BeyondX” and that it won’t be released in February, instead sometime during the northern spring. There’s also some suggestion that it will initially be released only in the U.S. and South Korea, both markets being in the process of preparing or having started to roll out 5G networks.
Samsung traditionally announces its new Galaxy S lineup prior to the Mobile World Congress, which runs Feb. 25-29. Most are betting on a Feb. 24 a date for the launch, though some suggest that Samsung may go earlier, on Feb. 20.
