Oracle Corp. today is expanding the scope of role-based generative artificial intelligence features in its Fusion Cloud Supply Chain and Manufacturing platform, aiming at automating routine tasks for supply chain professionals.
The AI-powered tools are intended to streamline workflows, optimize decision-making and enhance operational efficiency across various supply chain functions.
Oracle has been steadily enhancing components of its Fusion Cloud enterprise resource planning suite for the past year, adding new generative AI features with each new release. The agents are embedded directly within Oracle Cloud SCM, and can be customized using a type of simplified retrieval augmented generation that doesn’t require extensive technical expertise, according to Miranda Nash, group vice president for Oracle AI.
“As you’re setting up the agent, you basically make Oracle AI aware of that source of truth and then it becomes part of Fusion,” she said. “There is no data science or engineering expertise necessary. Users just ask their questions. They’re not aware that there is any training.”
Permissions are regulated by role-based access controls and training data specific to a customer company is securely stored in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and never used to train the general model, Nash said.
Highlights of the new generative AI features in SCM release 25A cover margin and risk resilience, operations, fulfillment and data-driven decision-making. Oracle packages the functions as advisers in the following areas.
Procurement Policy improves the accuracy and speed of purchase requisition processes by providing information on a company’s procurement policies and product recommendations.
Manufacturer Onboarding streamlines the assessment of new manufacturers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with risk and onboarding requirements.
Operational Procedure assists manufacturing and production operators in complying with procedural and safety standards.
Quality Inspection helps engineers review inspection histories and suggests improvements to compliance processes.
Material Handling guides warehouse staff on proper material handling procedures and regulatory compliance.
Claims Policy helps analysts make more consistent and informed decisions processing claims.
Shipping Placard Handling provides shipment-specific guidance on hazardous materials regulations.
Goods Delivery helps warehouse teams optimize the location and timing of deliveries.
Supply Chain Collaboration gives suppliers access to company-specific policies, forecasts and production statuses.
Sustainability Policy helps align corporate reporting with industry sustainability standards.
