EMERGING TECH

What to expect during ‘UiPath Forward 5’: Join theCUBE Sept. 28-29

From its beginnings as a “software development shop,” UiPath Inc. has since shed its fledgling cocoon and blossomed into one of the world’s most recognized automation solutions providers, according to Dave Vellante, chief research officer of Wikibon Inc. and co-founder of SiliconANGLE Media Inc.

The company attributes early success to its computer vision technology, which eventually morphed into the robotic process automation tools many companies deploy today.

“The road to automation has been steadily progressing throughout organizations around the globe,” Vellante said. “UiPath gave the RPA market a significant boost in the second part of the last decade with a really easy-to-adopt product where time to value was swift.”

Having enjoyed somewhat of a first-mover advantage in its niche, UiPath led its messaging last year with its catchy mantra of making “software robots, so people don’t have to be robots.” But as the end of 2022 approaches and with the company’s financial health showing equal parts of improvement and concern, UiPath must show its partner ecosystem and investors that it’s still on the same innovation path for which it has been well known.

From Sept. 28-29, theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, will be live at UiPath Forward 5, interviewing executives, partners, customers and analysts throughout the event to get the latest news and announcements involving RPA innovation and how UiPath is helping drive automation forward(* Disclosure below.)

No stranger to breaking the mold

Ever since UiPath evolved into the multi-unicorn it is today, it’s shown a consistent track record of forward-thinking. The company is currently sitting on a $7.8 billion valuation. However, innovate it must again as competitors move to offer a similar feature set and carve some market share for themselves. The company seems up to the task as it has proven itself strategically nimble on more than one occasion.

“Customers wanted more. They pushed UiPath and others to go beyond point products to build out enterprise platforms that could tackle other use cases across business lines,” Vellante said. “Through a series of organic investments and acquisitions, UiPath has evolved from a company developing RPA tools into a full-blown intelligent platform company with a rapidly growing customer base and partner ecosystem.”

One of those acquisitions is Re:infer Ltd., a company acquired for the breadth of artificial intelligence possibilities it would add to UiPath’s existing portfolio. The company’s natural language processing technology, in particular, looks to have sealed the deal.

On the bright side, spending trends for enterprise automation look to be pointing north, indicating there are even more corporate dollars on the table waiting to be funneled toward the right solution. And given the world’s near-complete emergence from the pandemic and with UiPath’s main competitors still being Microsoft Power Automate and Automation Anywhere Inc., this multi-horse race is certainly going to throw up some exciting technology advancements in the coming months and years.
