OpenText broadly enhances customer experience cloud suite

OpenText Corp., the maker of a diversified set of cloud-based information technology and knowledge management products, today unveiled a set of enhancements and new products around the theme of artificial intelligence enablement.

They’re combined in version 24.4 of Cloud Editions, a platform that combines information management, cloud-based applications, security and AI. Collectively, the new features are intended to modernize content management, improve security and speed developer productivity.

Highlights of the new release of OpenText Experience Cloud, which combines media, communications, messaging and data around customer experience, include expanded messaging channels, often for managing customer preferences and simplified communications management. Users of Experience Cloud can send personalized promotions at scale with integrated email and short messaging campaigns.

“A company like Pacific Gas & Electric, which uses our products, can communicate to the millions of customers in California in 10 minutes,” said Chief Product Officer Muhi Majzoub. Generative artificial intelligence can automatically create letters explaining a service outage, for example, revise the document based on feedback and paste it into a templated email to send to a mailing list, he said.

Messaging at scale

Organizations can now use the Rich Communication Services messaging protocol and Meta Platforms Inc.’s WhatsApp to deliver richer media and branded messages. New cloud fax features combine security certifications, easier use and a portfolio of integrations with multifunction printers and electronic health record systems

New options for managing customer data and preferences in OpenText Communications and OpenText Web CMS allow businesses to make customer journeys more personalized using unified profiles and real-time data. New migration tools also help organizations transition to cloud-native customer communication management applications more easily.

In the area of enterprise content management, OpenText is announcing the general availability of a digital asset management application it announced last spring. The software is already in use at Walt Disney Co., Target Corp. and L’Oreal SA, Majzoub said.

The company’s ECM software already integrates with SAP SE, Microsoft Corp.’s Teams and office productivity software, Google LLC’s Workspace, Oracle Corp.’s E-Business Applications, ServiceNow Inc. and Salesforce Inc. “All the images and video they show you comes from our digital asset management solution,” he said.

A new Core Cloud Network Observability toolset is intended to give IT teams greater visibility across multicloud, on-premises and edge networks. It integrates with OpenText’s Application Observability and Network Operations Management to create a more comprehensive view of cloud infrastructure interactions with on-premises systems to help IT teams identify and resolve performance issues more efficiently.

Smarter BI

OpenText Intelligence Aviator harnesses generative AI to make business intelligence data more accessible. Powered by large language models, it allows users to interact with BI data conversationally, without the need for specialized query language skills. The software also automatically suggests analyses and visualizations based on user queries.

New archiving and content security features intended to better manage legacy data and mitigate risks include Information Archive 24.4 integration with Content Aviator to enable organizations to archive generative AI data securely with advanced search capabilities that work against archives of any size. That keeps enterprise data safe but still available for large language model training, the company said. It also accelerates early case assessment and legal scenarios by reducing the time needed for the discovery process.

OpenText’s extended detection and response products “have the ability to tap into log files from many security tools that enterprises and governments use,” said Majzoub. “They generate billions of rows of log files every month. Our automated XDR has the ability to interact with these different tools and present you a summary of the threat with the recommendation of what the action you should take.”

Also in the security realm, Thrust API for Content Intelligence is a set of application program interfaces designed to identify and control sensitive content such as personal data, proprietary information and offensive materials. Thrust APIs are typically designed to accelerate specific operations or functionalities. In this case, they automate content risk management and ensure compliance with security and regulatory guidelines.

For developers, OpenText DevOps Aviator is getting new features focused on enhancing software development workflows. AI-Assisted User Stories generates relevant user stories to accelerate development efforts and improve prioritization. Video-to-Defect Translation converts hours of testing video footage into actionable test steps within minutes to increase testing accuracy and efficiency. Generative AI integration provides developers with tools to streamline workflows while safeguarding proprietary data.
